Day 1 · Palermo (D)
Arrival in Palermo and make your own way to the hotel. Time to relax and settle in. In the evening, a welcome dinner at the hotel. Accommodation in Palermo.
Day 2 · Palermo › Monreale › Palermo (B, D)
Excursion to Monreale, famous for its Norman architecture and its cathedral, a World Heritage site. Time to buy local products. Back to Palermo for a walking tour of the historic centre: palaces, churches and the cathedral, a blend of styles and rich history. Free afternoon. Dinner and accommodation in Palermo.
Day 3 · Palermo › Erice › Marsala (wine tasting) › Agrigento (B, L, D)
Departure for Erice, a charming medieval town on Monte San Giuliano. On to Marsala, famous for its wine: a visit to a historic winery with a tasting and a light lunch of regional products. Then Agrigento and its Valley of the Temples (entry included), a World Heritage site, with the temples of Concordia, Hercules and Jupiter. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 4 · Agrigento › Ragusa Ibla › Ragusa (B, D)
Departure for Ragusa. Visit to the historic centre of Ibla, famous for its baroque palaces and churches (UNESCO with the Val di Noto): the San Giorgio gate, the Iblei gardens, the church of San Giuseppe, the Cathedral of San Giorgio and the Cosentini Palace, one of the finest examples of late Sicilian baroque. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 5 · Ragusa › Noto › Syracuse › Taormina (B, D)
Departure for Noto, known for its baroque architecture: the Cathedral of San Nicolò and a stroll through the centre. On to Syracuse to discover the island of Ortigia, its ancient core, among baroque churches and medieval palaces. Then Taormina: arrival in the afternoon, check-in in the centre and dinner at the hotel. Accommodation.
Day 6 · Taormina › Mount Etna › Taormina (B)
Departure for Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe: ancient lava fields and black magma rock; weather permitting, ascent to 1,800 metres. Back to Taormina, the romantic town on Monte Tauro. Free afternoon. Accommodation in Taormina.
Day 7 · Taormina (B)
