Day 1 · Bari
Welcome to Bari! On arrival, meet our driver at the airport for the transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Day 2 · Bari (B, D)
Breakfast and a guided tour of Bari’s historic centre: the Basilica of San Nicola and the Norman-Swabian Castle (castle entry not included), Piazza Mercantile and the old Column of Justice. Free time for lunch. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 3 · Bari › Trani › Castel del Monte › Alberobello (B, D)
Departure for Trani: its white-stone cathedral and Jewish quarter. Then Castel del Monte, a World Heritage site, with its unique octagonal architecture (shuttle included). Finally, Alberobello, famous for its trulli and fairy-tale atmosphere. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 4 · Alberobello › Matera › Alberobello (B, D)
Excursion to Matera, a World Heritage site. We visit the Sassi di Matera, caves inhabited for over 9,000 years, and the Romanesque cathedral that dominates the city, with unique views of the Sassi (Casa Grotta entry included). In the afternoon, back to Alberobello. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 5 · Alberobello › Locorotondo › Ostuni › Lecce (B, D)
Departure for Locorotondo, one of the prettiest white villages. We continue to Ostuni, “the white city”, with free time to explore and have lunch. In the afternoon, arrival in Lecce, the jewel of the Salento. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 6 · Lecce › Otranto › Dinner at a masseria › Lecce (B, D)
Guided tour of Lecce: the Cathedral, the Basilica of Santa Croce and Piazza del Duomo (church entries included). Then Otranto, famous for its cathedral with the bones of 813 martyrs (entry included). Typical dinner at Masseria L’Uliveto (1 glass of wine included). Back to Lecce. Accommodation.
Day 7 · Lecce › Martina Franca › Cooking class at a masseria › Monopoli › Bari (B, L)
Towards Bari across the Murge plateau. We visit Martina Franca, an elegant baroque town with its Piazza Plebiscito and Ducal Palace. Through the Itria Valley we reach Masseria Montenapoleone, where you learn to make fresh pasta (orecchiette, cavatelli, strascinate) and enjoy a lunch of what you have prepared. In the afternoon, Monopoli, a fortified citadel of intricate streets. Back to Bari. Accommodation.
Day 8 · Bari (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Depending on your flight time, free time for shopping or a final visit. Airport transfer included. End of our services.
